How to Make Affogato at Home

An Italian coffee-based dessert, is made with just two ingredients and is a coffee lover’s dream treat. Here’s how to make it at home without an espresso machine (and add info on hour to make it an adult drink).

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 1 glass

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 shot espresso
  • 2 scoop vanilla gelato (See notes 1 for substitutes)

Instructions

  1. Using your desired brewing method, brew 1 shot of espresso.
  2. As the espresso is brewing, drop 2 scoops of vanilla gelato or ice cream into a small drinking glass.
  3. Pour the hot espresso shot over the ice cream.
  4. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  1. Ice Cream and Frozen Custard are both great options.
