As much as I LOVE Parisian Hot Chocolate, sometimes I need something a little quicker to make… Enter… My homemade instant Hot chocolate mix!
My goal with this version is to make an “instant mix” version of Parisian Hot Chocolate. So it’s creamy and chocolatey, especially when you use milk.
This recipe is also great as a gift! And it’s the season, so to be extra sweet this time of year, I’m including free tags to include with your hot cocoa. They include instructions on how to use the mix!

MAKING HOT CHOCOLATE
There are two different methods you can use. Microwave or stovetop. I recommend using the stovetop method for the best results.
TO MAKE HOT CHOCOLATE (STOVETOP-PREFERRED METHOD)
- Heat water or milk slowly in a saucepan until it is steamy.
- Add 3-4 Tablespoons of hot chocolate mix for every one cup of water or milk. Continue heating as you whisk until everything is dissolved and the mixture is hot, smooth, and creamy.
- If desired, enjoy it with whipped cream and mini chocolate chips or shaved chocolate, marshmallows, or all of the above!
TO MAKE HOT CHOCOLATE (MICROWAVE)
- Heat water or milk in a mug until it is steamy (between 104°F and 115°F will melt the chocolate chips)
- Add 3-4 Tablespoons of hot chocolate mix for every 1 (one) cup of water or milk.
- Whisk until everything is dissolved and the mixture is hot, smooth, and creamy.
Enjoy it with whipped cream and mini chocolate chips or shaved chocolate, marshmallows, or all of the above!
JENN’S TIP
When you microwave your milk, make sure that your liquid is hot enough to melt the chocolate.
STORAGE DETAILS
This recipe yields approximately cups of dry mix or about 12 (one-cup) servings, and will last, in an airtight container, for up to one year.

COOKING WITH KIDS
DISCLOSURE: Please keep in mind that the following tips are general and are meant to be suggestive. I personally use these strategies with my own kids, who are all unique even within my own family of five. Therefore, please regard these as suggestions or ideas. If you feel that your child requires more or less assistance, then go with what you and your child are comfortable with. Ultimately, you know your child best.
*This one involves some frying which can be very dangerous. Caution and supervision are highly recommended.
