Homemade Bread in itself is pretty impressive. But make it look like a wheat stalk and you’re sure to impress everyone!
Ahhh, the homemade baguette. It is the ultimate bread-making experience. There is nothing like the smell and taste of a freshly baked French baguette. Crusty and beautifully colored on the outside, buttery soft and chewy on the inside, Serve it with butter, olive oil, or with your favorite soup. It’s a perfect way to say “I love you” to you anyone (including yourself).
It’s June, and you know what that means? Dairy! It’s Dairy Month, and being a Wisocnsite, I’m all about it! I love everything dairy, cheese, milk, ice cream, butter, you name it, I love it! Not only is today part of dairy month, but today is also National Cheese Day! So, how about we make some Garlic Cheese Bread to celebrate both?
Indulge in the classic goodness of homemade banana bread. Enjoy the rich banana flavor and the convenience of freezing leftovers.
Steamed Bao Buns (Baozi, 包子) are amazing. They are such a fun change-up to your typical US bread/biscuits. For me, they are incredibly nostalgic. I have memories of helping with my dad and my nai nai when we visited Texas in much younger years. It wasn’t a common meal in my house, but I was feeling a little nostalgic one day and decided to attempt the recreation of my nai nai’s version and way of making them (and she did use a scale 🤫).
What screams fall more than Apple Pumpkin Bread? I can’t think of anything. I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to pumpkin and apple treats, cooler weather, and dusting off my favorite boots (and I have a lot of them to choose from). The leaves on the trees outside are starting to turn, the weather is getting cooler, (along with some random days if hot), so I think now is a great time to share some fall recipes.
This post shares a simple one-bowl baking recipe for Wild Blackberry and Orange Muffins. The recipe was inspired by the discovery of Wisconsin wild blackberries in the author’s farm. The blackberries are smaller and sweeter than store-bought ones. The post also includes tips for baking with kids and freezing blackberries for future use.
A week or so ago, I was craving something with blueberries, but I didn’t want muffins. Plus I wanted something I could double and bake easily so I could bake one for a friend who just had a baby (to save a little time one morning for breakfast). So I thought blueberry bread would be good. Unfortunately, all the bread recipes I saw had lemon in it and I really didn’t want to have to go back to the grocery store to get a lemon… So I set out to construct my own blueberry bread, but in the course of my attempt, I ended up with a very yummy, very dense blueberry coffee cake instead. Which, honestly, I was more than happy to eat (and so was my family). 🙂
I try to make recipes that you can adjust for your family. If you actually prefer nuts, you could add 1 cup of walnuts or pecans to it if you wanted. My kids don’t always want nuts in bread like this or the banana bread I make, if I feel like adding nuts, I’ll make muffins instead and split the batter so that I can add nuts to half.
If you make muffins, they will take less time to bake, A LOT let less time, so keep that in mind.
