What screams fall more than Apple Pumpkin Bread? I can’t think of anything. I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to pumpkin and apple treats, cooler weather, and dusting off my favorite boots (and I have a lot of them to choose from). The leaves on the trees outside are starting to turn, the weather is getting cooler, (along with some random days if hot), so I think now is a great time to share some fall recipes.

Free Pattern: The Birch Leaf Beanie

We’re finally at the last of my crochet leaf stitch patterns! WHAT?! This pattern is seriously my favorite! When I started blogging and offering patterns, my first 2 were knitted washcloths with a crochet border, and ever since I’ve had this interest and love of merging the 2 techniques together.

So many people are either #teamknit or #teamcrochet. I’m over here singing “Why can’t we be friends? Why can’t we be friends?” (in case you didn’t know, this is the Song Why Can’t We Be Friends By WAR).

Who’s ready for fall????? ME!!!!! And really, almost EVERY millennial girl in the modern-day, first-world hemisphere. 🤣 But that being said… I am a Midwest girl and I do happen to live in one of the most BEAUTIFUL places for Fall (La Crosse, WI). We have some of the most amazing fall weather and with the mighty Mississippi right next door, I personally think it’s one of the most beautiful places you could live (or visit). In case you missed my “sales pitch” on visiting La Crosse, check out Part One of My Leaf Pattern Bundle… Leaf Me to my Coffee Cup Sleeve.

Anywho… this pattern is a super quick make. Once you get your stitches down, you’ll be making this pattern up quicker than you thought.

How to: Dry Dill (and other herbs)

Drying dill is a convenient way to store your dill and add it to a variety of food dishes, sauces, and dips. If you have a large dill harvest, the drying methods I’m sharing give your the option to continue using your dill throughout the year until the following summer. I also find that even my dry herbs are better in flavor than the ones bought in the store.

Venison Morel Stroganoff

Venison Morel Stroganoff

Deer (venison) and morel are not actually hunted during the same season. Venison is in the fall and morels are a spring forage. However, this is such a fun recipe my husband and oldest (CJ) love so much I had to share it! Hunting and storing food is something we’re pretty versed in. Growing and canning tomatoes, drying fresh herbs from the summer growth. This is just part of what we do. So having venison and morels together is not an uncommon thing for us.

The weather is starting to cool and the leaves are changing color here in Wisconsin. As baking in my house becomes more abundant, thanks to the cooling weather, I can’t help but start experimenting.

I love pumpkin and apples and RIGHT NOW they are in abundance! From local farms to farmers’ markets to grocery stores. This just means this is the perfect time to make (and create) all kinds of yummy treats with both. Today it’s Apple Pumpkin Muffins.
