Bread Machine Steamed Bao Buns or Hé Yè Bāo (荷葉包)

Steamed Bao Buns (Baozi, 包子) are amazing. They are such a fun change-up to your typical US bread/biscuits. For me, they are incredibly nostalgic. I have memories of helping with my dad and my nai nai when we visited Texas in much younger years. It wasn’t a common meal in my house, but I was feeling a little nostalgic one day and decided to attempt the recreation of my nai nai’s version and way of making them (and she did use a scale 🤫).

Recipe: Pumpkin Scones (with Maple Glaze)

I know, I know… I can hear some of you now, asking “Really Jenn? Another Pumpkin Recipe?” To that, I say yes! Yes, another Pumpkin recipe. “Why?”, you might ask. Well, I will answer your question with a question. Why not? I mean, why the pumpkin hate? Really… most people associate “pumpkin” with pumpkin spice and that isn’t even really the taste of pumpkin, but warming, yummy spices, blended together to a perfect fall-like “mood” of flavor.

German Potato Pancakes (Kartóffelpuffer)

It’s officially Fall, and nothing sounds better on a cool day than a nice warm, fluffy, and yummy potato pancake! Or… maybe that’s just me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Oh well, today I’m sharing one version of German potato pancakes (yes there are multiple) that are loved in the Smith household. The kartóffelpuffer is traditionally served at Christmas time in Germany, but these are a family favorite that makes their way to our table, OFTEN.

Recipe: Lemon Chicken Taco Dinner

You know what that means… I have a fun new recipe to share with you! This Lemon Chicken Taco Dinner can be as easy or homemade as you want. This is a no-shell taco dinner (but of course you easily put it all in a taco shell and it would also be AMAZING). I have included the recipes for each element of this dinner, but if you prefer, you can simply buy everything pre-made (except the chicken), and just assemble it after you grill the chicken.

I remember what it was like coming home from work and just wanting dinner done. So of course, I don’t want this to be daunting for you. If you happen to have the time to make it completely from scratch, I promise you won’t regret it. Price-wise, it is cheaper to make everything instead of buying it pre-made; but do what is best for you, your family, and your sanity.

Peach Cobbler

This is the ONLY recipe I was able to get from my grandmother (my mom’s mom) herself. This is the very recipe she used for my mother every year for her birthday. The only issue… when I talked to my grandmother and got all the ingredients, but she didn’t give me measurements. She told me what she used, and what to look for as I was slowly adding in things. So this was interesting to figure out to say the least. I like to have at least an idea of what the measurements are.
